The historic Atmos clock from Jaeger-LeCoultrewhich works by utilising every slightest variation in the temperature of its surroundings. To celebrate this anniversary, Australian designer Marc Newson has designed a new and more contemporary version for the Swiss watchmaker, the Atmos 561 in a limited series of 888 pieces. The official presentation took place during the recently concluded Salone del Mobile in Milan, where the new pendulum clock was the centrepiece of the exhibition, held in the Triennale spaces, which retraced some of the stages in the history of Atmos, with eighty years of design applied to an eternal watch movement.
In the new Atmos 501, the sophisticated movement powered by temperature variations is encased in a bubble-shaped crystal block (made by the renowned Cristallerie Baccarat).
