Royal Oak 'Jumbo': the grainé dial returns

The latest evolution of Audemars Piguetʼs Royal Oak "Jumbo" Extra-Flat combines a blue grainé dial with a white gold case and bracelet.

Audemars Piguet Royal OakTaking its inspiration from the dial of the platinum reference 14802, created in 1992 by Audemars Piguet for the 20th anniversary of the Royal Oak, the Royal Oak 'Jumbo' Extra-Flat now sports a dial with a finer, brighter grain that plays with light.

The blue hue is achieved using a PVD treatment, followed by a translucent coating to emphasise its brilliance. Also matching the dial is the background of the date window, in midnight blue.

Contrasting with the dial surface is the white gold used both for the hour markers and hands, with luminescent coating for optimal visibility in all lighting conditions, and for the 39 mm case that alternates between polished and satin finishes.

Audemars Piguet Royal OakAt the heart of the watch is the calibre 7121, launched in January 2022 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak: mechanical with automatic winding, it is the result of five years of research and development and provides a 55-hour power reserve thanks to a larger barrel than its predecessor. The date features an energy-saving flat mechanism equipped with a new patented rapid corrector.

Thanks to the extremely reduced thickness of the calibre (only 3.2 mm), it was possible to house it in a case that is only 8.1 mm thick. It is equipped with a pink gold oscillating weight with bidirectional winding, visible through the sapphire glass back.

Price78,600 euro.
