The Tangente was one of four models launched by Nomos Glashütte when it was founded in 1992 and has remained true to itself ever since. A slender, coin-shaped case, made as a tapered cylinder with regular edges and square lugs; essential and minimal on the dial side with Bauhaus-style numerals, the brand's declared source of inspiration.
A watch that began its career with a classic white dial, but over the years has introduced new colours and various fittings. The latest, in order of time, is the new version of the automatic neomatik Blue Gold series, so called because the still minimalist blue dial with sunray finish takes on a particular intense hue, which requires special processing: gold plating before being galvanised.
The bright, and very eye-catching, texture contrasts elegantly with the rhodium-plated hands and silver numerals and indices, with a small gold-coloured touch of neomatik lettering at 12 o'clock, which identifies the brand's slim and innovative automatic calibres. Small seconds at 6 o'clock balance the logos on the top.
The 39 mm steel case is available in two versions: Ref. 145 with a closed case back (6.9 mm thick) and Ref. 146 with a sapphire crystal case back (7.1 mm thick), sold for €2,780 and €3,080 respectively. The movement is the calibre DUW 3001 with proprietary Swing-System escapement, bidirectional winding rotor, balance bridge on two supports, three-quarter plate. It is a movement only 3.2 mm thick, very little for an automatic calibre. The power reserve is 43 hours. Nomos produces all its calibres in-house and can boast the 'Glashütte' designation of origin.
Water-resistant to a pressure of 5 atmospheres, Tangente neomatik Blue Gold is fitted with a Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan leather strap. A 35 mm case version is also available.
