Inspired by the rich past in which Rolex and the sailing world have been united since the 1950s, the Yacht-Master, launched in 1992, represented within the large Oyster family the link between "professional" or "specific" models and traditional lines.
A nautical watch with an elegant and classic connotation, characterised by a bi-directional rotating bezel with a 60-minute graduation in relief that allows a duration to be read off (e.g. the time between two buoys).
The Yacht-Master is available with a 37, 40 or 42 mm diameter case, guaranteed water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres. After being offered exclusively in white gold, the 42 mm version introduced a yellow gold variant, again with the characteristic rotating bezel with graduated Cerachrom disc and the Oysterflex bracelet of the original model. It benefits from the Chromalight display that is optimised in the dark: the hands and hourmarkers are coated with a luminescent substance that guarantees prolonged intensity.
The Oysterflex bracelet consists of flexible metal links (composed of an alloy of titanium and nickel) coated with a high-performance elastomer. For added comfort, it is equipped on the inner surface with a patented lateral 'padding' system. The gold Oysterlock safety clasp prevents any accidental opening.
The Yacht-Master 42 is equipped with the calibre 3235, with a Parachrom balance spring and Chronergy escapement to increase its precision and resistance. It boasts a winding autonomy of approximately 70 hours.
