What do Abraham-Louis Breguet and Wonder Woman have in common? Nothing in substance, of course, but ideally linking the Master to the comic book superheroine is an original tourbillon by Kross Studio, Switzerland's first new-generation design studio, which breaks down the boundaries between art, pop culture and watchmaking in high-end products. The Wonder Woman watch, made with Warner Bros Discovery Global Consumer Products and DC, unlike previous limited series models, is a unique custom-commissioned timepiece. It showcases the brand's ability to create custom designs to order for discerning collectors.
Revisiting Abraham-Louis Breguet's famous complication, the manual KS7000 calibre with central tourbillon has been reworked to make innovative stylistic choices and to integrate the movement and dial. The central tourbillon cage is devoid of decorative elements. Wonder Woman's iconic emblem, the double WW, is an integral part of the dial, right above the tourbillon cage. The cage, for its part, has benefited from a new design with the upper bridge forged on the Kross Studio cross.
The time reading is original: the hand, representing Wonder Woman's sword, is attached to the peripheral display mechanism that rotates 360° around the tourbillon. The superheroine's tiara points to her red shield into which the minute disc fits at intervals of 15. The hour markers on the flange are arranged in the shape of stars, another powerful Wonder Woman symbol.
The movement has a 5-day power reserve, the time is set by the side pusher, while winding is done from the case back. It is made of grade 5 titanium with a blue Pvd flange. It comes with three interchangeable straps: blue calfskin, red alligator and anthracite grey goatskin. This is a creative breakthrough for Kross Studio, which has laid the foundations for entering a new era of customised creations and exclusive made-to-order timepieces.
