As Keith Richards says, 'For everyone born after 1963, the reference points are the Sun, the Moon... And the Rolling Stones'. After all, how can you blame him. To pay tribute to the legendary British band, Jaquet Droz has created a watch featuring one of the most famous of the complications offered by the Swiss company: the automatons.
The entire dial of the watch is a homage to the Rolling Stones. In fact, around the onyx hour/minute sub-dial at 12 o'clock are two concentric discs. On the innermost one, the band's most iconic instruments are rigorously reproduced by hand, such as Ron Wood's Fender Stratocaster with its double amp, the late Charlie Watts' minimalist drums, or Keith Richards' five-string guitar, with which the 'Human Riff' recorded some of the most legendary grooves in rock history.
These historic grooves are represented, with their original covers, in the form of the group's six most emblematic albums from 1971 to the present day. Each buyer will be able to choose the album covers, which will be reproduced by hand by Jaquet Droz's craftsmen on a disc that can spin around the centre stage on demand.
The rotation lasts about 30 seconds and can be operated by the pusher coaxial to the crown. In addition, the power reserve is indicated at 8 o'clock by a cam representing the needle of a turntable. Immediately below, there is the iconic Stones logo, moving up and down as the tongue moves from left to right.
On the case back, with a sapphire crystal porthole, the red gold oscillating weight is engraved with the name of the chosen album, from among the 23 available, to illustrate the image depicted below the central stage, together with the album's launch date and the name of the studio where it was recorded. Each copy is a unique piece.
The watch has a 43 mm 18-carat red gold case and is driven by the Jaquet Droz manufacture calibre 2653 AT2, an automatic, finely decorated mechanical movement with a power reserve of 68 hours.
