There comes news, which we can define as epoch-making, from Rolex: the company has announced the birth of the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned programme, which offers the possibility of buying, exclusively from authorised dealers, second-hand watches that are certified authentic and guaranteed by the brand.
Specifically, second-hand Rolex watches - which are at least three years old - will be accompanied at the time of resale by the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned seal and the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned warranty card, which officially certifies that the watch is authentic and ensures that it functions correctly. The watches will benefit from a two-year international warranty.
Since December, Rolex Certified Pre-Owned watches have already been available at Bucherer dealer outlets in six countries (Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Denmark and the UK). Other authorised retailers of the brand will be able to join the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned programme from spring 2023.
This is really important news because the market for second-hand watches is constantly growing and the major brands in the sector cannot ignore it. And if even a House like Rolex has recognised its importance, it is a strong signal of how the sector is evolving.
