Launched in 2021, the Klepcys DICE by Cyrus Genève was the first wristwatch to be equipped with two chronographs capable of acting totally independently of each other, or even in synchrony. As the name itself suggests: in fact, DICE stands for Double Independent Chronograph Evolution.
This year, on the occasion of Watches and Wonders Geneva, the Le Locle-based company presented the brand-new Lime variant, followed by the brand-new Racing model, available in two case versions, produced in only 15 pieces each. As can easily be guessed from the name, the inspiration for this new model comes from the world of motor racing, to which Cyrus Genève is very attached, being, among other things, the official sponsor of the Haas Formula 1 team, with drivers Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen.
The main novelty is the use (a first for the company) of carbon fibre, a material known for its high resistance and lightness, as well as for being fireproof. The 42 mm cushion case is therefore available in polished and satin-finished grade 5 titanium or black DLC-treated, but still combined with a bezel made of matt black carbon fibre.
As the carbon fibre is laid out in layers and then processed, its surface will be different from one specimen to the next, thus lending uniqueness to each Klepcys DICE Racing.
The watch is equipped with two crowns, at 3 and 9 o'clock, to start/stop/reset the two independent chronographs, marked by the colours blue and red for the indications on the dial. The movement used is the in-house automatic CYR718 calibre, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing a 60-hour power reserve.
Comprising no fewer than 443 components, 218 of which relate to the independent double chronograph, it is visible from both the dial and back sides. The watch is completed by a bright red Cordura strap with a titanium folding clasp matching the case version and an additional black rubber strap.
Price38,900 euros (titanium case and carbon fibre bezels).
