On Tuesday 18 October, insiders, L'Orologio Club members and simple enthusiasts gathered at the Fashion Café in Milan, for the presentation of the Orologio dell'Anno awards, the only recognition of its kind on the Italian scene.
It was an evening among friends, in the name of conviviality and the pleasure of getting together, introduced by Dody Giussani, Editorial Director of L'Orologio, who welcomed the many guests, including the managers of the Maison who had come to represent the models that had won first place in the 12 categories in the competition: "This is a special edition because we are celebrating 30 years of the magazine, which first came out in '92. The prize, awarded by readers, has existed since '94 and was the first experiment we did with public involvement when there was not yet this kind of easy and direct interaction. Then we continued with other initiatives that have become important over the last 10 years, starting with our Readers' and Fans' Club'.
And it was precisely some of them who, as is tradition, presented the 13th prize: the special prize awarded by the Club members, choosing their favourite from all the models in the competition. The prize was made with the sponsorship of Vicenzaoro: "We started collaborating with L'Orologio a couple of years ago with the aim of exploiting a great platform like Vicenzaoro, which is one of the most important in the world for jewellery, to grow a new watchmaking community. Which, however, we want to include in a different way, with innovative concepts that look at passion and culture," said Marco Carniello, Director of Jewellery & Fashion at Italian Exhibition Group.
This year's award once again demonstrated that the relationship of mutual trust with readers is stronger than ever: no fewer than 14,841 took part in the voting, expressing their preferences. A sign of the appreciation for the watches in the competition, all of them deserving, for one reason or another, to be on the podium.
