At the Geneva Watch Days 2022, Bulgari surprised not with a new record, but with a timepiece that achieved yet another milestone in the Octo Finissimo line: a movement with the remarkable power reserve of 8 days.
Faithful to the collection's stylistic signature and with a profile that is only 5.95 mm thick (on a 40 mm diameter), the Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days is equipped with an unprecedented ultra-thin calibre (2.5 mm thick): the manual BVL199 SK, which achieves a 192-hour power reserve with a single large barrel.
Its operation is visible through the dial, which reveals the anthracite PVD skeleton bridges and shows the power-reserve indicator: an arc embracing the small seconds counter between 7 and 8 o'clock. Devoid of a hand, it indicates the full or depleted reserve through a kind of display that harmonises with the style of the watch.
A long power reserve, which postpones the daily task of winding at least on a weekly basis, is a feature that is not only convenient but also highly technical. Bulgari's additional challenge was to realise it in a skeleton movement with all the design constraints due to the subtlety of Octo Finissimo.
Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days is made in pink gold and, together with the other Octo Finissimo novelties, including a limited edition in yellow gold of the Octo Finissimo Automatic, marks the return of gold on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of this line.
