Seiko's 5 Sports collection was first launched in 1969. This year, the Japanese manufacturer is enriching it by introducing the first 5 Sports model with a GMT function, available in three versions according to the colour of the dial, which comes in black, blue or orange.
The latter offer excellent legibility, ensured by the presence of oversized hands (gladius for the hours and arrow-shaped for the minutes) and indices that have undergone a luminescent treatment using Lumibrite, as well as the contrasting colouring of the GMT hand (in red for the blue and black dials, in black for the orange dial), which is also luminescent.
The design of the 42.5 mm diameter by 13.6 mm thick steel case and that of the dial are inspired by one of the most popular Seiko models among the brand's enthusiasts, the SKX series. The steel bracelet on 5 rows of links (equipped with a triple folding clasp and safety button) is also inspired by the latter, with the central ones polished to create a contrast with the lateral ones. Both the glass protecting the dial and the bezel ring with 24-hour markers are made of Hardlex glass.
Water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres, the new Seiko 5 Sports GMT are powered by Seiko calibre 4R34 (21,600 vibrations per hour, 24 jewels, resistant to magnetic fields up to 4,800 A/m, 41-hour power reserve), mechanical with automatic winding and visible through the porthole on the case back.
