Blancpain has always reserved a prominent place for watchmaking aimed at women since the 1930s. And it continues to do so with the new Air Command in a 36.2 mm case, offered with a case in either grade 23 titanium (a type of premium titanium rarely used in watchmaking) or red gold. This is a chronograph with a flyback function, which draws its inspiration from a model that the House of Le Brassus launched in the 1950s and from which the current Air Command has drawn reference to several elements. Such as the sapphire "glass box" crystal, the presence of the tachymeter scale and the shape of the Arabic numeral hands and hour markers (luminescent and "cut" at the counters).
The bezel features a countdown scale and the case is characterised by polished and satin-finished surfaces. The movement used is the calibre F188B (26.2 mm diameter, 5.5 mm thick, 255 components, 35 jewels, 40-hour power reserve), a self-winding mechanical movement with column wheel, vertical coupling and silicon balance spring.
The movement itself is visible through the sapphire crystal porthole on the caseback. Water-resistant to a pressure of 3 atmospheres, these new Air Command watches from Blancpain come with a blue calfskin strap with white stitching and a folding clasp made of the same material as the case.
