Do you know how many world records for subtlety have been set by Bulgari's Octo collection since 2014? We'll tell you: as many as eight. Two years ago, the Roman House set the sixth of these records with the thinnest automatic watch equipped with the complications of chronograph and tourbillon device, thanks to the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic. This watch, made in the Bulgari manufacture in Neuchâtel, is in fact powered by the world's thinnest movement in its category.
The self-winding skeleton calibre, with single-pusher chronograph and tourbillon regulator, is enclosed in a thickness of just 3.5 mm. This example of technical virtuosity has recently been launched in a new and precious interpretation, with a 43 mm case made of platinum with a refined and unusual satin surface finish.
The case features a white gold crown with a black ceramic insert and surrounds an openwork dial with grey chronograph counters. The IWC-manufactured BVL 388 calibre (21,600 vibrations per hour, 52-hour power reserve), visible from both the dial side and back, is a single-pusher chronograph with a tourbillon device at 6 o'clock. The alligator leather strap with platinum buckle echoes the colour of the blued, skeletonised dauphine hands.
