On the occasion of Earth Day 2022, which is celebrated today, we have selected 8 models that focus on sustainability or that support specific associations or organisations for the preservation of the planet. As in the case of Seiko's Prospex, which joins the Save the Ocean series in support of various marine conservation initiatives, one of which involves contributions to the Tokyo-based National Polar Research Institute. The timepiece has a 42.6 mm case made of Ever-Brilliant Steel, is water-resistant to 20 atmospheres, is animated by the 8L35 calibre (mechanical automatic) and is combined with a silicon or fabric strap (price €4,600, limited edition of 1,300 pieces).
Or like Opsobjects, which has announced a collaboration with 3Bee, an agri-tech company that develops monitoring and diagnostic systems for bee health, the creator of the research, development and circular economy programme 'Adopt a Beehive'. For every piece of jewellery or timepiece sold from 9 to 29 May 2022, part of the proceeds will go towards expanding the Opsobjects hive and saving hundreds of bees (pictured is the Tiny Queen, price €99). The Casio Pro Trek PRW-61Y-3 (price €399), for its part, has a 54.2 x 47.4 mm case, strap and back made of bioplastic derived from renewable biological materials.
Maurice Lacroix also focuses on sustainability with the Aikon #tide (price €690), which has a 40 mm case made of upcycling plastic diverted from the oceans and fibreglass. The strap is rubber, the movement is quartz and water resistance is up to 10 atmospheres. The Fleurette by Oui&Me, on the other hand, with a 32 mm steel case (price 89 euros) has a strap and clutch in regenerated leather. We conclude with three models made of recycled plastic, namely the Grenen Ocean by Skagen (price €199), the Waterbury Ocean Plastic by Timex (price €99) and the 'IAM THE SEA' collection by Iamthewatch (price €69).
