Have you ever heard of MB&F? Founded in 2005, MB&F is the world's first conceptual watch workshop. Its watches are always very innovative, both from a technical and aesthetic point of view. As in the case of the Horological Machine N°10 'Bulldog', which was until recently available in two versions, namely with a grade 5 titanium body with blue 'eyes', or with a red gold and titanium body with black 'eyes'. A few days ago, MB&F added to the collection the 'Dark Bulldog' versions in three colours, limited to 8 pieces each: stainless steel with black PVD coating and black eyes; stainless steel with black PVD coating and blue eyes; stainless steel with black PVD coating and red eyes. Just like the dog it is named after, appearance is not everything for the HM10 Bulldog. The hinged mandibles open and close depending on the residual energy in the mainspring: if the mouth is completely closed, this means that the 'Bulldog' is unloaded; if the bright teeth aligned on the mandibles are clearly visible, this means that the 'Bulldog' has been wound, with 45 hours of mainspring energy.
The hand-wound mechanical movement of the HM10 Bulldog was conceived and developed in-house; aficionados of the brand will recognise elements faithful to the watch workshop's best-loved creations. The large suspended balance, floating slightly below the central sapphire crystal dome, was made possible by the various iterations of this mechanism in the Legacy Machine collection. The ultra-thin aluminium domes have their roots in the HM3 Frog and were perfected in the HM6 of 2014.
The case measures 45 mm in diameter (54 mm 'nose to tail' and with a maximum height of 24 mm); however, the HM10 Bulldog offers a striking fit. The calfskin strap is fastened by a folding buckle or Velcro system.
