One of Glashütte Original's most iconic watches comes in a striking colour combination: green dial and red gold case. The Pano collection, which has been one of the brand's mainstays with its off-centre appeal for twenty years, has established itself for the austerity typical of Teutonic design with cold, 'technical' colours. An almost audacious choice, then, to experiment with new colours, as has been the case for the past couple of years, with the introduction of new coloured dials that have brought a breath of fresh air and dynamism. Starting with blue, on the PanoMaticLunar the company has also introduced a distinctive salmon dial, and now green, first in combination with the steel case and now also with red gold. A colour combination that further emphasises the very special tone of the dial, which is bright green in the centre and gradually darkens towards the edge until it becomes black. The arrangement of the indications, which is asymmetrical, is the one now well known to most, with the hours and minutes placed on the left-hand side, with its small seconds at 6 o'clock, and the two sub-dials intersecting. On the right-hand side, on the other hand, are the moon phases at 2 o'clock, as well as one of the Saxon company's trademarks: the double date window with coaxial and coplanar discs at 4 o'clock. Moving everything along is the IWC-manufactured 90-02 calibre (47 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, power reserve of around 42 hours). While retaining the classic elements of the collection, the PanoMaticLunar version in red gold and green dial offers a good dose of originality, yet remains perfectly controlled. Admittedly, the use of gold instead of steel entails an outlay of double, or almost double (depending on the version), but the visual effect is very eye-catching indeed.
