Developed with the cooperation of the Commando Hubert, the frogmen of the French Navy with whom Tudor has been working since 1965, the Pelagos FXD is a technical watch that meets a set of military specifications not previously found on the company's models. Such as the fixed bars for attaching the strap (alluded to by FXD, the contraction of the English "fixed" in the name of the timepiece) that form a single unit with the 42 mm titanium case, ensuring greater robustness and reliability. Another of its features is the bidirectional rotating bezel, with retrograde graduation from 60 to 0, responding to the requirements of the method known as 'underwater navigation', one of the specialities of combat swimmers, which consists of reaching a precise place in pairs by swimming underwater, without ever surfacing, meticulously planning the route and timing each other. From an aesthetic point of view, the Pelagos FXD is inspired by the Tudor diver's watches historically used by the French Navy: in addition to the navy blue colour, it features square hour markers and Snowflake hands, two unmistakable elements with which to make the luminescence more intense in low visibility conditions. The water resistance rating is 200 metres. The strap, made in collaboration with the Julien Faure company, consists of a band of navy blue polyethylene fabric with a silver-coloured central thread and a hook-and-loop fastener that fits wrists of all sizes and offers an optimal fit. The watch comes with an additional rubber strap with a textile relief pattern. The mechanism is entrusted to the in-house MT5602 calibre, self-winding, Cosc-certified but meeting higher standards of precision. Its visible rotor is made of tungsten and the guaranteed autonomy is approximately 70 hours.
