The Air Command is a classic example of a pilot's chronograph, equipped with a flyback function (i.e. the chronograph does not need to be reset to zero before starting a new measurement) and a bezel with useful countdown indices. The bezel itself, knurled at the edge, has a blue ceramic ring with SuperLuminova luminescent indices. The dial is also blue and houses luminescent baton hands and Arabic numeral hour markers, as well as additional counters (for chrono minutes at 3 o'clock and horn hours at 9 o'clock) and a tachymeter scale. The movement used is the IWC-manufactured F388B calibre (based on the F385, 31.8 mm in diameter, 6.65 mm thick, 293 components, 35 jewels, 36,000 vib/h, column wheel, vertical clutch), self-winding mechanical, with an openworked gold rotor and silicon balance spring. The blue strap with white stitching is made of calfskin. The Air Command Chrono Flyback is available with a 42.5 mm case in grade 23 titanium (a high-end quality of titanium rarely used in watchmaking) or in 18-carat red gold.
Prices18,160 euros (with titanium case); 29,220 euros (red gold case).
