When Patek Philippe presents three novelties together, the news inevitably overshadows all the others.
This is also because the watches in question are big guns: three multiples played on the theme of the chronograph. Maybe it's because the Nautilus has done well, or maybe it's because Thierry Stern has taken a liking to tempt his audience with an unusual hue within the Patek Philippe colour palette, the fact remains that the "green" trend does not stop.
So, let's see what it is all about, starting with the one that will inevitably be the most desired: the automatic chronograph with annual calendar in steel with an olive-green soleil dial (yes, the same shade of green as the Nautilus) and integrated steel bracelet, which definitively establishes the sporty soul of this watch.
The second model is a chronograph with Universal Time with an intense dark green dial, but with a platinum case. The classic city ring is classically in white, but with the locations shown in green like the centre of the dial and the strap.
The third and most important novelty launched yesterday is the perpetual split-seconds chrono, in pink gold with a slate grey dial: a Patek Philippe classic. Desired, pursued and rarely achieved (not only because it costs around 274,000 euros), it will certainly enrich the most prestigious collections.
Three exclusive pieces, despite the use of steel (but on a €52,298 watch, and it would be nice to be able to pay cash for the €2 change), and developed on the basis of a type - the chronograph - among the most admired by collectors of the House.
Speaking of the latter, yesterday also saw the news of the forthcoming public presentation of one of the world's largest Patek Philippe collections: the 'OAK Collection', which will be on show at the Design Museum in London from 10 to 16 December. Among the 160 watches, owned by a private individual, are numerous Pateks that belonged to Henry Graves Jr. (one of the largest collections outside the Patek Philippe Museum) and the largest collection of Calatrava in the world.
