After revisiting the aesthetics of the collection with the Globetrotter Gold, Arnold & Son returns to the theme with a new steel version. The Globetrotter Steel, this is the name of the new model, retains the rotating hemisphere and the sapphire crystal ring beneath which is the 24-hour disc which, together, allow the time to be read in time zones north of the equator. The watch is available in two dial versions, namely shaded blue, lacquered and sun-brushed (exclusive series of 88), or silvered, also lacquered and sun-brushed, and offered in a non-limited edition. The 45 mm steel case of the Globetrotter Steel is characterised by harmonious, soft lines: below the domed sapphire crystal and above the dial is a steel arch, typical of the collection. This arch is pierced and satin-finished on the flat surfaces, while the corners are bevelled and polished by hand. Its slender lines rest on two screwed feet, like a stylised bridge. In the centre of the dial, suspended thanks to the aforementioned bridge, is the rotating northern hemisphere, with North America, Eurasia and Africa, the latter obviously being the portion above the equator. The oceans are hand-painted with several layers of blue pigment lacquer, enriched with mother-of-pearl powder, which gives them a particular depth and brilliance. The lighter-coloured ribs, enriched with Super-LumiNova, stand out at night and further accentuate this small work of hand craftsmanship. The rotating globe allows the time zones of the northern hemisphere to be displayed simultaneously: however, Arnold & Son can also produce the southern hemisphere or customise the Globetrotter collection globe on request. The watch is powered by the IWC-manufactured A&S6022 calibre (diameter 39 mm, thickness 6.55 mm, 28,800 vib/h, 25-hour power reserve, circular-grained plate with NAC treatment, bevelled and polished, radially-bevelled Côtes de Genève bridges with NAC treatment, engraved and skeletonised oscillating weight with ADLC and NAC treatment, mechanical with automatic winding. Water resistance is guaranteed up to 3 atmospheres of pressure.
