The House of Breguet is best known for its great influence in the history of watchmaking and its emblematic collections. However, the Breguet name is also firmly linked to the world of aviation. In fact, Louis Charles Breguet, great-great-grandson of Abraham-Louis Breguet, was one of the great aviation pioneers, and the watchmaking company that bears his name has also distinguished itself through a collection of aviation chronographs known as the Type XX. Today, this collection is enriched by a resolutely sporty and modern model, the Type XXI 3815 chronograph. This new chronograph uses a 42 mm titanium case with a cannelé caseband, guaranteed water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres. The bidirectional rotating bezel, also made of titanium, has a contrasting black lacquered sexagesimal scale. What catches the eye above all is the deep black dial with its soleil finish, available with luminescent green or orange numerals, indexes and hands. On the same dial, the chrono seconds and minutes are at the centre, while two additional subdials are dedicated to the 24-hour display (at 3 o'clock) and continuous seconds (at 9 o'clock). At 6 o'clock, finally, is the date window. The driving force behind these two new Type XXIs, offered in a limited and numbered edition of only 250 pieces per version, is the IWC-manufactured 584Q/A calibre (13 ½ lignes diameter, 323 components, 28.800 vibrations per hour, 26 jewels, 48-hour power reserve, inverted-line Swiss anchor escapement with silicon horns, silicon balance spring, hand-decorated gold oscillating weight), self-winding mechanical and visible from the back through a sapphire crystal porthole. The watch is completed by a calfskin strap with a folding clasp.
