Ulysse Nardin is launching a unique, revisited version of the iconic Freak X, embellished with a new geometric decoration. What immediately catches the eye is the original dial, featuring a geometric pattern inspired by nature's camouflage and also used on military ships. The Freak X collection is famous for its manufacture flying carousel movement, which rotates around its own axis, without the use of a dial or traditional hands. The Freak X Razzle Dazzle also does not have a traditional dial, but rather a decorative plate that rotates along with the movement itself. Produced in a limited edition of only 30 pieces, the Freak X Razzle Dazzle is offered in a 43 mm black DLC titanium case, combined with a black or white perforated leather strap with "point de bride" stitching and rubber lining. The camouflage decorative plate combines three different techniques for making the dial, (lacquer, galvanopalstics/galvanic treatment, laser), with a final "hypnotic" effect. The choice of this particular motif, known as the 'Razzle Dazzle', stems from the fact that during the First World War (and to a lesser extent the Second), British ships were painted with a camouflage painting technique known precisely as the 'Razzle Dazzle'. As for the movement, it is the IWC-manufactured calibre UN-230 (21,600 vibrations per hour, 72-hour power reserve), a self-winding mechanical movement in which the central bridge serves as the minute hand and one of the wheels indicates the hours. The movement is equipped with an extra-large and ultra-light silicon balance with nickel inertial blocks and stabilising weights. Water resistance is guaranteed up to 5 atmospheres of pressure.
