For the 34th consecutive year, Chopard is taking part in the Mille Miglia as Main Partner and Official Watch of the historic event. For this edition, scheduled to take place from 16 to 19 June, the direction of travel of the race will be reversed: the 375 entrants will cover the 1,618 km of the route from Brescia to Rome and back in an anti-clockwise direction, a mode that had never been applied since the race was resumed in 1977, but was customary in the original editions of the race between 1927 and 1957. Before the start of the race, each crew will be presented with a unique, numbered edition of the Chopard Mille Miglia Race Edition watch. A 44 mm-diameter chronograph that will be available in two versions: 1,000 pieces entirely in steel and 250 pieces with bezel, pushpieces and hands in 18-carat ethical rose gold. Both models feature a slate grey satin-finished dial obtained by galvanic treatment, complemented by a contrasting hour circle and chronograph counters, while red-tipped hands ensure optimal legibility. The three-counter configuration allows the 12-hour, 30-minute and 60-second times to be measured, while speed and distance are quickly calculated thanks to the white lacquered tachymeter scale, reminiscent of a car dashboard, on the black ceramic bezel. As with all Mille Miglia watches from Chopard, the affiliation of the 2021 Race Edition to the world of motor racing is confirmed by the presence of the famous red 1000 Miglia arrow on the dial, while the caseback bears the chequered flag, the "1000 Miglia" logo and the words "Brescia-Roma-Brescia" in reference to the race's looped route. The perforated calfskin strap, reminiscent of traditional racing gloves, is punctuated with tone-on-tone red or black stitching, and lined in rubber with a motif inspired by Dunlop racing tyres from the 1960s, in reference to the motor racing history first entered in the Mille Miglia collection in 2018. Both declinations house a self-winding mechanical movement with a 48-hour power reserve and Cosc chronometer certificate.
