Important anniversary for Jaquet Droz

On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Pierre Jaquet-Droz, the House revisits its Grande Seconde Moon in two different versions, offered for the first time in a 41 mm case (as opposed to the 43 and 39 mm of the previous versions), a versatile size that suits both men's and women's wrists. The first features a dial in Grand Feu ivoire enamel, one of the Maison's flagships, with Roman numerals for the hours and minutes, and Arabic numerals for the seconds, following the more traditional Grande Seconde codes. Complementing the design of the creation is a blue strap, echoing the colour of the starry sky against which the moon is silhouetted. The second version, on the other hand, features a matt black dial, a declination of deep astral intensity that elegantly highlights the moon phase. For the first time, the timepiece dispenses with Arabic and Roman numerals for the hour and minute indications. Replacing them are red gold hour markers, giving the watch a more contemporary, structured and clean design - a modernity enhanced by a handcrafted matt black calfskin strap. The two variants of the Grande Seconde Moon 300e Anniversaire share an 18-carat red gold case housing the automatic 2660QL4 movement with 68 hours of power reserve and silicon balance spring. Jaquet Droz has equipped it with an in-house development: the "Mechanism 135", which reduces the usual margins of error of the moon-phase display to the point of requiring only one correction every 122 years and which, placed on a 135-tooth moon disc (instead of the usual 59), guarantees the timepiece a secular precision that can be adjusted with the help of a stylus, via an invisible corrector enclosed in the case, at 8 o'clock. Each variant bears the engraving "Pierre Jaquet-Droz, 300ème Anniversaire" on the back, while the sapphire crystal back reveals an oscillating weight made of red gold.
