With an 18-carat white gold case enhanced by the presence of diamonds (13 on the lugs and crown - equal to approximately 0.19 carats - and 48 on the bezel - equal to approximately 2.06 carats), the new Piaget Altiplano Tourbillon Aventurine features a dial made of aventurine glass, a material named after the word adventure. Its creation dates back to the 17th century, and some of the earliest evidence of this material comes from Venice, and more specifically from Murano, a place famous throughout the world for its glasswork. The production process consists of adding copper oxide to the glass to obtain a sparkle reminiscent of the starry sky. The dial of the Altiplano Tourbillon Aventurine has an ultra-thin flying tourbillon cage in an off-centre window at two o'clock, counterbalanced by an off-centre hours and minutes counter at eight o'clock. The watch is powered by the ultra-thin Piaget-manufactured calibre 670P (157 components, 4.6 mm thick, 48-hour power reserve), a hand-wound mechanical movement. The tourbillon device cage has three titanium bridges and weighs only 0.2 grams. The watch is completed by a shiny blue alligator strap with a white gold folding clasp set with 24 diamonds (equal to 0.06 carats).
