Japanese architect Tadao Ando has forged his international reputation by becoming renowned for the use of concrete and glass in his designs, combined with a creative use of light. These three elements are the common thread running through all his architectural work, in a continuous search for absolute purity and the essential. His works are now part of the history of contemporary architecture. His most successful works include the Church of Light in Osaka, the Museum of Modern Art in Fort Worth (Texas) and 21_21 Design Sight in Tokyo. After an initial limited series of Octo Finissimo born from the collaboration between Bulgari and Tadao Ando, in which the architect represented time through a spiral engraved on the dial, this second special edition takes up the theme of time based on the Mikazuki (三 日) concept, approaching it with a different approach. The Mikazuki (三 日月) represents the crescent moon, the first stage of the new moon (新月) which in due course will become full (満 月). This evolution symbolises the transitory nature of time, with the earth's shadow partially masking the moon to reveal only a small crescent. The blue lacquered dial features a spiral motif, starting with the small seconds hand at 7 o'clock, while the aforementioned crescent moon is placed at 5 o'clock. The 40 mm case is made of sand-blasted black ceramic (as is the bracelet) and houses the ultra-thin BVL 138 manufacture calibre, just 2.23 mm thick. On the sapphire crystal caseback is Tadao Ando's laser-engraved signature. The watch is produced in a limited series of only 160 pieces.
