To celebrate its 175th anniversary, Ulysse Nardin unveils the Diver X Skeleton, a dive watch combining two of the brand's most popular creations: the Diver X and the Skeleton X. For its creation, it chose to remove the dial, thus revealing the skeletonisation of the automatic movement underneath, the UN-371 calibre originally designed for the Executive Skeleton collection and now redesigned and improved with the addition of the oscillating weight in the shape of Ulysse Nardin's iconic X. In addition, to achieve the feeling of depth, overlapping layers were used to emphasise the multi-layered construction of the central 'X'. Like all of the company's diver's watches, this model is designed to withstand depths of up to 200 metres. It features a SuperLuminova coating for the hour, minute and seconds hands to make it easier to read the time even underwater, and is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel with an inverted concave, which protects the domed sapphire crystal from accidental shocks and impacts. For the bezel, in particular, as well as for the protection of the barrel at 12 o'clock, Ulysse Nardin used blue Carbonium, a material originally used for the Freak X: extremely light, it is made from the same fibre used in the fuselages and wings of the latest generation of aircraft and, since its production process involves the use of waste materials, it has 40% less environmental impact than other carbon emissions. The 44-millimetre case, micro-pearled on the sides with polished satin-finished lugs, has been coated with blue PVD. The orange details, as well as the hour markers, the inner lines of the iconic 'X' and the rubber crown protector, add vibrant touches of colour and emphasise the watch's sporty origins. Available with a rubber strap also in ocean blue or orange, with a decorative insert bearing the Ulysse Nardin anchor, also in orange, the Diver X Skeleton is a limited and numbered edition of 175 pieces. Price: €19,300.
