Merry Christmas, on newsstands

This is it. It's almost Christmas. We've heard so much about it that we can't take it any more. We have been told where to spend it, when, how and with whom. In conclusion, in 2020 Christmas does not fall on 25 December for everyone. For many it will be Christmas on the 28th, 29th, or even 7th January, when they will be allowed to join the family. After all, even the baby Jesus will not be born at midnight, but three hours earlier.

We all want to be careful, cautious and act in a way that helps contain contagion, but suffering the disruption of our customs is inevitable. Therefore, any tradition that is upheld this year reassures us. It makes us feel a little less upside down.

Perhaps it is because we are passionate about watchmaking, a sector for which tradition is a founding value. Breguet's double tourbillon, on the cover of our December/January issue, reminds us of this. A magnificent piece, created by the brand named after the inventor of the tourbillon and dedicated to him. This is easily understood from the technical elegance of its construction and the sumptuous engraving on the movement's bridges, which reproduces the Parisian palace where Abraham-Louis Breguet's workshop was based. We chose it because it is a hymn to haute horlogerie and its crafts, from the designer to the watchmaker, from the finisseur to the engraver.

This special cover wraps up an issue full of insights into some of the most important innovations of 2020, from Patek Philippe's Grande Sonnerie to the new Grand Seiko escapement, based on Omega's now expired Co-Axial patent.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you next year with all our activities, offline and online.

Happy Holidays, wishing everyone a happy one.
