Its appearance is a sign of good omen, its depiction a promise of peace and prosperity. The Qilin heralds good news, spreads wisdom and happiness and is now also featured in Vacheron Constantin's Traditionnelle Tourbillon. Under the good auspices of this creature, reproduced through two ramolayé engravings, Vacheron Constantin gives life to a refined horological masterpiece, the result of the encounter between haute horlogerie and artistic craftsmanship. The result is a masterful representation of the passage of time, under the benevolent gaze of two Qilin, noble creatures from Asian mythology. The watch features a 42 mm 18-carat rose gold case, combined with a hand-sewn Mississippiensis alligator strap. On the sides of the case, one can appreciate the intaglio engraving. The black gold dial bears the two aforementioned hand-applied and hand-engraved pink gold Qilin, the power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock and the tourbillon device at 6 o'clock. The movement used is the IWC-manufactured 2260 calibre (29.10 mm in diameter, 6.80 mm thick, 231 components, 31 jewels, 18,000 vibrations per hour, 14-day power reserve), a hand-wound mechanical movement, bearing the Geneva Hallmark and visible through the sapphire glass porthole on the back. This exclusive Traditionnelle Tourbillon is produced in a limited edition of 18 numbered pieces, available exclusively in Vacheron Constantin boutiques.
