Inspired by a model produced by Cuervo y Sobrinos in the 1950s, the latest version of the Historiador Flameante employs an ultra-flat, vintage-style case and an original salmon-coloured "flameante" (or "flaming") dial: a combination designed to evoke the dynamic rhythm of Havana in its heyday. The Havana of the 1950s was an exotic destination beloved of socialites and celebrities. By day, the renowned Cuervo y Sobrinos watch boutique in the city centre attracted illustrious visitors such as Caruso, Hemingway and Churchill; by night, Hollywood stars and jet-setters met at the Floridita bar for cocktails or at the Tropicana nightclub to dance until dawn. Embodying the most authentic Cuban tradition, Cuervo y Sobrinos watches perfectly express this atmosphere of luxurious hedonism. Available in stainless steel, the case of the Historiador Flameante has a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of only 6.2 mm, making it a very well-proportioned elegant watch. The original protruding lugs, reminiscent of the tail fins on American cars popular in Havana in the 1950s, are ergonomic and extremely comfortable on the wrist. The distinctive guilloché motif engraved on the dial reveals the brand's devotion to craftsmanship. Eight facetted, lance-shaped silver indices, along with Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock and the brand logo at 12 o'clock, are applied. Further enlivening the dial at 6 o'clock is the small seconds counter, which features the word "Flameante". To reinforce the watch's vintage identity, a double-curved sapphire crystal protects the dial. Inside the Historiador Flameante beats an ultra-thin (just 2.5 mm thick) hand-wound Swiss movement, Calibre CYS 2052 (17 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour, 42-hour power reserve). Visible through the sapphire crystal porthole on the caseback, the finishes pay homage to traditional watchmaking: the bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève, the mainplate is decorated with circular circular perlage, and the screws are blued. The back is engraved with the inscription "Testimony of Style since 1882", a reference to the year Cuervo y Sobrinos was founded.
