Launched in 2014, Perrelet's Turbine Pilot collection is the result of painstaking technical studies by the Swiss company's watchmakers, who skilfully combine cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship. These characteristics are clearly expressed in the updated version of the Turbine Pilot, which has evolved to adapt to contemporary trends and is offered in four versions. Historically, Perrelet has played with colours in the Turbine collection: the new Turbine Pilot is no exception, featuring shades such as electrum blue, red and yellow. In order to fulfil the function for which it was created, the Turbine Pilot combines the turbine with the circular aviation rule, a technical and stylish exercise that makes a pilot's watch unmistakable. The aviation rule is a circular analogue calculating instrument based on the operation of the slide rule, composed of concentric discs with different graduated scales. Designed to be a useful support tool in flight, it quickly obtains the result of numerical operations, identifying its correspondent in the different measurement systems. The case, with its generous 48 mm diameter and the characteristic vertical grooves on the caseband that identify the Turbine models, is made of steel with a black PVD coating, is water-resistant to 5 atmospheres, and frames a complex three-dimensional dial on which stands out the turbine, whose blades rotate with the movement of the wrist. As soon as the 12 black anodised aluminium blades are activated, their rotation offers captivating optical effects and plays of colour, revealing a black sub-dial enlivened by striped panels in electric blue, red, yellow or beige - depending on the version - arranged at the four cardinal points. The colourful bi-directional inner flange is activated by the crown at 3 o'clock, while the time is set via the integrated crown at 9 o'clock. The beating heart of this timepiece is the COSC-certified Perrelet manufacture automatic calibre P-331-MH, which guarantees a 42-hour power reserve. The transparent back offers the viewer the pleasure of enjoying the decoration of the movement, which has an openworked, rhodium-plated oscillating weight personalised with the Maison's symbol.
