Watches & Wonders Shanghai 2020

From yesterday until next 13 September, the West Bund Art Center in Shanghai will host the first edition of Watches & Wonders 2020 Shanghai, with 11 brands taking part, namely A. Lange & Söhne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Parmigiani Fleurier, Panerai, Piaget, Purnell, Roger Dubuis and Vacheron Constantin. While waiting for a more complete report that you will be able to read in the issue of L'Orologio that will be on newsstands in October, let's take a look at some of the most interesting new products presented. A. Lange & Söhne, on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of its founding, is launching three limited edition models that are part of the 1815 collection and share the dedication to F.A. Lange (Homage to F.A. Lange). Of these, we have selected the 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold Homage to F.A. Lange, a rattrapante chronograph with a 41.2 mm honey-gold case and produced in a limited edition of just 100 pieces. The movement used, calibre L101.2, is mechanical with manual winding. IWC, for its part, is for the first time equipping the famous Portuguese Chronograph with a steel bracelet to match the 41-mm case. The bracelet is fitted with a double folding clasp. Panerai combines Goldtech and Carbotech in a single watch, namely the new Suvbmersible Goldtech Orocarbo - 44 mm. In particular, the unidirectional rotating bezel, crown and lever are made of Carbotech, while the case and crown-protecting bridge are made of Goldtech. The case back is made of DLC-treated titanium, and water resistance is guaranteed to 300 metres. Roger Dubuis launches the Excalibur Superbia, featuring a 45 mm white gold case set with blue sapphires and white diamonds in a tetragonal cut. The white gold back is also set with diamonds, in this case brilliant-cut. The movement used, calibre RD108SQ (mechanical with manual winding), is equipped with a double flying tourbillon. We conclude with Parmigiani Fleurier's new Tonda GT collection, the design of which draws inspiration from the Tonda Chronor, which had won the best chronograph award at the 2017 Geneva Grand Prix d'Horologerie. The Tonda GT, in a limited edition of 250 pieces, is a solotempo with a double date window (at 12 o'clock) and small seconds (at 6 o'clock); the 42mm steel case is water-resistant to 10 atmospheres. It is available with a steel bracelet or rubber strap.
