Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton

True to its commitment to devote time to the planet, Omega is partnering with Nekton, a non-profit research foundation dedicated to protecting our oceans. This commitment is already underway through "First Descent", a series of missions to explore and safeguard the Indian Ocean, which began in 2019 and will resume next year with Omega playing a strong supporting role. Each mission combines cutting-edge technology and motivational public involvement. It is an approach that Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann values highly and in which he sees clear parallels between Nekton and the Biel-based company. "Our friends at Nekton protect the ocean by aiming to achieve the global goal of ensuring 30 % protection by 2030. As a pioneering brand with a long history dedicated to challenging the impossible, we have the utmost respect for this bold and compelling vision and are thrilled to be able to help make this goal a reality." Omega's Seamaster Diver 300M is certainly the watch best suited to represent this partnership: this celebrated timepiece has played a prominent role in Omega's maritime history. A legacy also acknowledged by the Nekton team, which has in fact nicknamed its research submarine Seamaster 2, in homage to the boat skippered by the late Sir Peter Blake. The legendary skipper of the circumnavigation of the globe was a passionate advocate of ocean conservation and a great admirer of Omega. The Semaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition, with its 42 mm steel case and helium valve at 10 o'clock, features a black ceramic dial treated with laser ablation [ZrO2], a matt finish with embossed polished waves and a unidirectional rotating bezel in grade 5 titanium, with an embossed laser-ablated diving scale. As a tribute to the foundation and its great work, the caseback features an embossed Nekton diver's medallion, as well as the inscriptions Naiadlock and Diver 300M, and water-resistance data. Animating the watches in the Nekton Edition is the Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 with special fine finishing, Geneva waves in arabesques and rhodium-plated rotor and bridges. Certified by METAS, it can withstand magnetic fields with an intensity of 15,000 gauss. It is available in two versions, one with an integrated black rubber strap with a brushed and polished buckle and the other with a steel bracelet. The Seamaster Diver Nekton Edition is a concrete way to support a very worthy cause: buying the watch means contributing to the protection of the oceans. Prices: 5,200 euros (with rubber strap); 5,900 euros (with steel bracelet). Available from October 2020.
