To celebrate the first Ultimate Tennis Showdown tournament, conceived by its Friend of the Brand Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena Williams' coach and one of the most famous and influential tennis coaches, Zenith has designed a special edition of the Defy 21, a chronograph with an accuracy of one hundredth of a second. The watch features a lightweight yet robust carbon case and bezel, a composite material used in professional tennis racquets. The edge of the bezel is engraved, treated with luminescent pigments, with Mouratoglou's motto: 'Little details make big difference'. The dial, which is partially open with closed chronograph counters, and the "cordura" effect rubber strap are treated in blue, a colour reminiscent of the tennis courts of the tournament designed during the Covid-19 pandemic and aimed at attracting a younger, more inclusive audience. The touches of yellow are the same colour as the classic tennis ball. The movement used is the El Primero 9004 automatic. Tennis player Matteo Berrettini, who won the Ultimate Tennis Showdown on Sunday 12 July, was honoured with this Defy 21. The launch of the watch, made in a limited edition of just 50 pieces, is scheduled for November 2020 in all Zenith Boutiques worldwide and on the Zenith Online Boutique. Those interested can sign up to receive an alert as soon as it becomes available for online purchase. The 50 owners of the timepiece will have the opportunity to spend an evening at the Mouratoglou Academy in the South of France, where the famous coach also trains a new generation of tennis rising stars, and enjoy a one-to-one training session with him.
