A gold model of the Longineswhich was auctioned on 16 October in New York by the famous auction house Antiquorum. The elegant 1929 piece, which belonged to none other than Albert Einstein, to whom it is said to have been given as a gift in 1931, has become the most expensive watchmaker's timepiece ever sold at auction, surpassing the pocket watch bought for the Longines museum in 2005 for 74,000 Swiss francs. Also in the illustrious physicist's possession is another model from the House, dating from 1943 and housed in the Bern Historical Museum.
