The results of the first Faraone 'closed door' auction

A winning bet for the Milanese auction house which, despite the lockdown period, concluded its first 'closed-door' appointment on 29 June with the adjudication of 70% of the 107 lots in the catalogue and a sale of over €314,450. The sale benefited from the great participation of Italian customers who unexpectedly won most of the lots and in particular the most significant 'top lots' in both the jewellery and watch sections. Auctioneer for the jewellery part, connected via streaming visible on the site, was the Ceo of Faraone Casa d'Aste, Vittoria Bianchi, who managed an audience of bidders connected via telephone, through 11 operators, the web platform, which alone brought in a sale of 96,000 euro, in addition to the unfailing written bids. After a bidding contest between web and phone, lot 18, a yellow gold bracelet signed Faraone, was awarded over the phone to an Italian customer for €9,500 against an estimate of €7.000 euro; lot 26, a band ring signed Federico Buccellati in 18 carat yellow and white gold with diamonds, instead was sold to a Swedish web client for a value of 3,500 euro while the estimate was 1,500 euro; lot 44, a brilliant cut diamond of 7.76 carats, was sold for 29,000 euro against the estimate of 23,000 euro in favour of a private Italian client. Also on the phone after a series of raises, the ring (lot 74) in platinum with an octagonal Colombian emerald of about 6.60 carats and diamonds was sold "at home" for €24,000 against €18,000 at the auction base. To conclude the jewellery round, lot 76, a necklace of natural pearls, was sold by telephone to a Swiss client for €5,500 against €2,000 starting value. A replacement of the auctioneer by Sergio Pellegrini, part of the board of directors of Faraone Casa d'Aste, opened the second and final round devoted to watches, which saw the sale of the last lot 107, a Rolex Daytona Ref. 116523, for €11,000 to a new Italian web client. The auction house, once the after-sale is over in about ten days, is preparing for a new timed auction from 13 to 23 July, where silverware and watches will be offered, and a subsequent closed auction scheduled for 10 September.
