After months of uncertainty and caution, Antiquorum's 'Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces' auction, initially scheduled in May, took place on 28 June in Geneva at the Beau-Rivage Hotel. And the result was exceptional. Not only did it record total sales of over 6 million Swiss francs, but also three world records for Rolex watches. Top lot, a rare 18K pink gold Oyster Chronograph Ref. 6034, circa 1955, sold for 600,000 Swiss francs. A 1979 Comex Submariner Ref. 1680, in exceptional condition, never used for diving operations and presented at auction with its original warranty (an unusual feature as most were kept by Comex and never delivered to the final owner), sold for an impressive 524,000 Swiss francs. Finally, a Ref. 1680 Red Submariner (among the most sought-after vintage references) Meter First Mark II, with a brown tropical dial in exceptional condition and with box and papers from 1969, was hammered at €103,750.
