Jaeger-LeCoultre launches the Master Control Memovox Timer, a watch incorporating a completely new mechanism for setting the alarm. Produced in a limited edition of 250 pieces, it allows the alarm to be set according to the number of hours that must elapse before the alarm sounds (for example, the duration of a meeting or the number of hours of sleep during a given night). Alternatively, the alarm can be set in the traditional way, based on a particular time (such as the time of an appointment or an alarm to catch a flight). The steel case, 40 mm in diameter, surrounds a dial arranged in concentric circles, in two shades of blue with a sunburst finish, complemented by an inner ring engraved in bas-relief with polished numerals. In the inner ring, the hours elapsed up to the striking time are indicated by a small red-tipped hand in the shape of the JL logo. Placed on the outer edge of this ring, the Memovox's unmistakable triangular index indicates the time when the alarm will sound. For this new generation of chime watches, which also includes a Memovox Master Control with chime and date, the Manufacture's engineers have completely reworked the self-winding 956 calibre by equipping it with a pink gold skeleton rotor decorated with a côtes de Genève motif that allows the chime mechanism to be admired through the sapphire crystal on the caseback.
