H. Moser & Cie. and MB&F are two independent Swiss brands, managed by two passionate personalities and long-standing acquaintances. The two brands have been working together for over ten years with Precision Engineering AG, a subsidiary of H. Moser & Cie, which supplies MB&F with its spirals. It is therefore not surprising that MB&F asked Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie., to participate as a "friend" of the brand in the creation of a performance art piece. Animated not only by a spirit of sharing and transparency but also by the desire to cultivate the concept of union that makes strength, H. Moser & Cie. and MB&F have therefore created two models together, available in different variants and offered in a limited series of 15. The number 15 refers to the 15° anniversary of MB&F and pays tribute to the 15° anniversary of the relaunch of H. Moser & Cie. One of these two models is the LM101 MB&F x H. Moser. Like H. Moser & Cie. and the 'back to basics' approach embodied by its Concept series of watches, MB&F chose to remove the logo in order to rediscover its roots and, in particular, return to the very origins of watchmaking, when the only signature elements were the movements. In the same sober spirit, it abandoned the small domed dials for the hour and minute indications and the 45-hour power reserve, replacing them with hands placed directly on the main dial. In this way, the smoky dials borrowed from H. Moser & Cie. can be seen in all their splendour. Four smoky dials were chosen for the LM101 MB&F x H. Moser: smoky Red, smoky Cosmic Green, smoky Aqua Blue and, of course, the famous smoky Funky Blue. Topped by a sapphire glass dome, the case is made of steel, a material used for only the third time in MB&F's history. The suspended balance wheel 'takes centre stage', although in the LM101 MB&F x H. Moser it has been completely redesigned to highlight the beauty of the smoky dials. This beating heart is equipped with a double balance spring manufactured by Precision Engineering AG. Thanks to this pair of co-ordinated balance-springs, the friction normally encountered with a single balance-spring is reduced and the gravity point displacement suffered by each spring as it expands is corrected, which significantly improves precision and optimises isochronism. Finally, through the case back, the domed sapphire crystal reveals the 'engine' of this timepiece. Unlike the original Legacy Machine 101 movement, whose finishing was decided by co-creator Kari Voutilainen, the aesthetics of the calibre powering the LM101 MB&F x H. Moser is more contemporary and sublimated by a light NAC treatment that enhances its beauty.
