The next World Cup is still two years away. But in the meantime Wyler Genève prepares and signs an agreement to produce the official watch of the national team. The first collaboration dates back to 1934, the year of the Azzurri's debut at the World Championships, when Innocente Binda, Wyler's Italian distributor, offered the Italian national football team to wear the Swiss brand's watches. More than seventy years later, the collaboration is resumed with Innocente's grandsons Marcello and Simone, who now run the Binda Group, which includes the Wyler Genève brand under its umbrella. The official watch for the Italian Football Federation is made in collaboration with the Zagato atelier: it is a chronograph in steel and carbon fibre with shock-absorbing shock absorbers, equipped with a blue strap and dial. The latter features four golden stars on the continuous seconds counter (with a red and green white hand), corresponding to the same number of World Cup victories by the Italian team. The FIGC logo and the engraving "Official Watch of The Italian National Football Team, 1934 - 2009" appear on the sapphire glass porthole of the case back. The movement, ETA calibre 2894, is mechanical with automatic winding and a 42-hour power reserve.
