The Chronomat, Breitling icon, returns

At the first summit live-streamed on the web yesterday, Breitling CEO Georges Kern unveiled the new 2020 product innovations to the world. These include the new Chronomat collection, the multifunctional sports watch suitable for every occasion. Its features are reminiscent of the very first model of the same name from the 1980s and make it instantly recognisable: the distinctive rotating bezel enhanced by the knights, which not only protect the crystal but also make it easier to manipulate; the knights at 3 and 9 o'clock, faithful to the original, interchangeable so that the wearer can use them for both counting and countdown functions; and the integrated Rouleaux steel bracelet with butterfly clasp. The new Chronomat B01 42 is available in a range of different metal and dial options. One of the versions sports a 42 millimetre stainless steel case with a silver, copper or blue dial and contrasting black chronograph counters. It is also available with a black dial and contrasting silver chronograph counters. The Chronomat Bentley celebrates Breitling's collaboration with the great British luxury automobile brand. It features a 42-millimetre stainless steel case and a green dial with contrasting black chronograph counters. This watch bears the inscription 'Bentley' all around the transparent sapphire crystal case back. The Chronomat Frecce Tricolori Limited Edition sports a blue dial with tone-on-tone counters and the Frecce Tricolori logo on the dial, positioned where the Breitling logo is usually found. This tribute to the Italian aerobatic patrol is produced in a limited edition of 250 pieces, and its caseback bears the engraving "One of 250". An extra touch of luxury is offered by the Chronomat with an 18 Ct red gold crown and pushers and a bezel with 18 Ct red gold riders, hour markers and numerals. This model features a silver dial with tone-on-tone silver counters and a 42-millimetre stainless steel case. Another two-tone Chronomat sports an elegant blue dial with tone-on-tone chronograph counters or an anthracite dial with contrasting black chronograph counters. It is highlighted by a unidirectional rotating bezel with 18 Ct red gold stop and 18 Ct red gold crown and pushers. Finally, for those who want to add a touch of luxury to their sportiness, there is also the Chronomat with an 18 Ct red gold case mounted on a black rubber strap with an 18 Ct red gold folding clasp. It also features an anthracite dial with contrasting black chronograph counters. The hands of the new Chronomats are coated with SuperLuminova for improved readability in all lighting conditions. All models, except the Frecce Tricolori Limited Edition, are equipped with a red chronograph seconds hand for enhanced legibility. Each chronograph in the new collection, water-resistant to 20 atmospheres, is powered by the Manufacture Breitling Calibre 01, a mechanical movement capable of providing a remarkable power reserve of around 70 hours and Cosc-certified.
