Frédérique Constant Heart Beat Manufacture

frederique_constant_pr_2016_heart_beat_manufacture_fc-930ms4h6Frédérique Constant's Heart Beat Manufacture collection, launched in 1994, is now enriched with two new models. The distinguishing feature of the collection is the presence of an opening on the dial side at the balance, in order to enhance the beauty of the mechanical movement, its "beat" in fact. At the time, this creation allowed Frédérique Constant to demonstrate his skills as a watchmaker with skilful ingenuity. Nevertheless, a negligence in the patent process for this very special invention gave other brands the opportunity to find inspiration and replicate what Frédérique Constant had presented. Following this unfortunate event, the brand found a way to profitably reclaim its spirit of innovation. In 2004, the brand launched its very first in-house movement, a Heart Beat Manufacture movement. This watch underwent several modifications, such as moving the aperture to 6 o'clock, which required a massive amount of craftsmanship, thanks to which the collection reached even greater heights in technique and elegance. In the years that followed, several modifications were made to the original design, granting the brand no fewer than 9 new models. As part of what is considered the brand's flagship collection, in 2006 Frédérique Constant introduced the Heart Beat Manifacture Automatic FC-930, equipped with an in-house designed, manufactured and assembled calibre. Today, the brand offers the same iconic model, but with a new, revised dial, still featuring the emblematic Roman numerals and the 6 o'clock aperture on the dial. In addition, the manufacturing process of the FC-930 movement has been updated using innovative techniques currently used in all in-house calibres to become a more reliable instrument and offer the in-house FC-930-2 calibre. A further innovation is the Heart Beat Manufacture equipped with an automatic manufacture calibre, named FC-941. Despite bearing the same name as its predecessors, this model includes remarkable modifications that push this classic watch into a more modern era. At first glance, the watch honours its origins, in particular thanks to its 42 mm case, which allows it to incorporate the additional 'date' function at 12 o'clock, as opposed to the hours and minutes function of the FC-930 calibre. The navy blue dial gives the watch an unknown depth and a more sophisticated look. The movement follows tradition, remaining an in-house designed, manufactured and assembled piece. The large aperture at 6 o'clock reveals the heart of the movement, with the innovative silicon escapement that allows the movement to run smoothly, ensuring a long life. As with most of the manufacture's timepieces, all functions are easily adjusted via the crown, and the transparent case back allows the wearer to admire the movement adorned with the refined circular perlage and côtes de Genève decoration.
