Longines welcomes its Ambassador Kate Winslet to Saint-Imier

KW_Longines6Longines had the immense pleasure of welcoming its Ambassadress of Elegance Kate Winslet for the first time at its headquarters in Saint-Imier. The extraordinary British actress, winner of an Oscar in 2009 for her performance in Revolutionary Road, joined the Longines family in 2010 and took the opportunity to visit the Longines Museum. On this occasion, she chose a watch that will be the subject of a re-edition to benefit the Golden Hat Foundation, a charity set up in 2010 of which Kate is co-founder, and which promotes autism awareness. For the past six years, Winslet has perfectly illustrated Longines' motto "Elegance is an attitude". Today, the Swiss watchmaker is proud to welcome her to Saint-Imier, in the place where the brand was born in 1832. The President of Longines, Walter von Känel, accompanied the actress on this day of discovery of the exciting process of creating Longines watches, explaining to her the stages of production and assembly of the timepieces. The Longines Ambassadress of Elegance visibly enjoyed her visit to the House Museum, an oasis of refinement that tells one of the finest stories in Swiss watchmaking and bears witness to the brand's heritage rooted in tradition, elegance and performance. On this journey through the centuries, Kate was particularly struck by a timepiece from the Flagship collection, a collection celebrating its 60th anniversary next year. The Maison has therefore decided to reissue this timepiece later this year and to donate the proceeds from its sales to the aforementioned Golden Hat Foundation. At the end of the day, Kate met the Longines staff gathered for the occasion. The actress took advantage of this moment to address a few words to the assembly: "It was a pleasure to discover Longines' attachment to its history, the richness of which is a source of inspiration for creating new timepieces true to its values. I am very grateful to the brand for its support for the Golden Hat Foundation, an organisation that is very close to my heart, through the re-edition of the watch that I have chosen today. I am very proud to be able to contribute to raising awareness about the situation of people with autism. I believe that these people should be able to learn to communicate, receive an education and develop real social relationships'.
