Only Watch, a charity auction promoting fund-raising for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (a degenerative neuromuscular disease of childhood), has a major contribution to make this year: that of François-Paul Journe, who is taking part in the initiative for the first time, scheduled to take place on 7 November in Geneva. The unique timepiece created for the occasion is the Tourbillon Souverain Bleu, with a case entirely in tantalum, a very rare metal with a shiny grey colour similar to platinum. It houses the manufactory-made F.P. Journe 1403 calibre, a hand-wound mechanical movement with a 42-hour power reserve. This movement moves the tourbillon cage, visible at 9 o'clock on the blue dial with chrome treatment; at 3 o'clock is the hours and minutes counter, at 6 o'clock the continuous deadbeat seconds counter, and at 12 o'clock the power-reserve indicator.
