On 19 December, the online auction to purchase the Edition Antoine de Saint Exupéry Aviator Watch in platinum by IWCmade in one piece. The watch went for $87,500 to a Hong Kong bidder, who submitted his bid two minutes before the auction closed. The minimum bid was high. Those who participated in the auction had to bid more than $30,000 if they wanted to come into possession of two precious rarities: in fact, the watch was accompanied by an original of Antoine de Saint Exupéry's first work, 'Courier of the South', in the edition signed by the author. The purpose was charitable, as the proceeds will go to the Ecole des Sables institute in support of Tuareg children in Mali, West Africa, who will have the opportunity to receive a school education. With the financial support raised, it is planned to construct a building with adequate equipment, capable of accommodating up to 120 pupils.
