To celebrate 40 years of the "indestructible" G-Shock, Casio Europe presents four new models, with references DWE-5657RE, DW-6640RE, GA-2140RE and GA-114RE. Common to all the new models is the presence, on the strap, of the names and launch dates of some of the most important G-Shocks in the brand's history.
To realise the success of the G-Shock, one only has to think that over the years more than 4,200 different models have been launched. From these, the company has selected 49, representing the best G-Shock innovations in terms of structure, functions, materials and design.
The names of these historic models were then imprinted on the strap (made of bio-based resins, like the cases, to minimise environmental impact) through a hot stamping process.
On the same straps, there is also a gold-coloured steel loop, celebrating the 40th anniversary. In addition, the special packaging created for these new Remaster Blacks is made of recycled paper, underlining the company's further concern for the environment.
These new models draw design inspiration from as many historical watches for the brand, namely: the DW-5600, which introduced the iconic square case shape; the DW-6600, the first G-Shock with dial backlighting; the GA-110, analogue-digital; and the GA-2100, with an octagonal case.
Naturally, they are all multifunctional models, equipped with calendar, chronograph, timer, alarm, backlit dial and more, with the two Remaster Blacks with analogue-digital display (GA-2140RE and GA-114RE) also showing time zones for 48 cities. Water resistance is guaranteed for all up to 20 atmospheres. The movement is, of course, quartz.
