20 years of Aquanaut

Patek Philippe's Aquanaut collection is celebrating its 20th birthday. In addition to celebrating its entry into the select circle of Patek Philippe Advanced Research Limited Editions (featured on the cover of the 257th May issue of L'Orologio), it is also presenting a new, extra-large white gold series version. The diameter in fact stands at 42 millimetres, the largest size ever made for an Aquanaut. New is the midnight blue colour of the strap, in composite material with a damier decoration to match the dial, and that of the dial itself. The latter echoes the dégradé effect, lighter in the centre and darker on the periphery, introduced in 2016 on the Aquanaut Travel Time Ref. 5164 in pink gold. The innovations also include applied, luminescent 18-carat white gold hour markers. In common with the other timepieces in the collection, it retains the octagonal bezel with bevelled corners, with vertical satin finish on the top and polished finish on the sides. At the heart of the watch is the self-winding Calibre 324 S C, visible through the sapphire crystal back: it is equipped with a 21-carat gold rotor and a Spiromax balance spring in Silinvar. Price: 35,563 euros.
